This month we are looking at a less well-know discipline, used for determining your health status – iridology.

You are receiving this Ageless monthly bulletin as you either subscribed to it, or from automatically being added to our database when requesting any of our complimentary publications. (For further information see the bottom of this e-mail)
Our thanks to Harvey B Vedder for supplying us with information on this amazing system used for evaluating and tracking the condition of your health.

Iridology is the study of the iris (the colored part of your eyes) and shows organ by organ, and indicates which are stressed, hyper or hypoactive, weakened by trauma, or affected by genetic disposition. Using this method is painless, non-intrusive, and surprisingly accurate.
It is the abnormal patterns in the trabeculae (the fibers or cords found in the colored area) which conveys a clear indication of what your systems and organs are presently undergoing, as well as which organs have been less than optimally functioning from birth.
Each body organ is situated in a precise pattern in right and left irises, as nerve activity from every part of the body is self-reported and recorded in the iris fiber over time. This pattern in which it is represented in the iris holds true across the population - for example - the liver is always visible in the right eye, at approximately eight o’clock (think of the iris as a clock face).
Should the fiber pattern be intact at this point, the liver is probably healthy.
Irregularities of the fibers, color, overlays and so on in this region of the iris, are visible under magnification and are your body’s way of offering information about tissue conditions in the respective organ.
Iridologists, the practitioners of this alternative way of assessing health, normally use 35mm slides to study the eye, and although they do not attempt to diagnose disease as such, but rather endeavor to discover any underlying weaknesses in particular organs and systems that, by being in their weakened states, may give rise to many diseases.
This system is solidly based on clinical observation, and offers a straightforward, non-invasive view of the whole body, often well in advance of other tests that typically are done in the chronic (eight to fifteen years in the making) stage of tissue degeneration.
This means that instead of fixing a problem after it has manifested, iridology offers an “early warning” system and can assess the entire body, suggesting lifestyle changes to prevent some ailments and can be coupled for further help to herbal or nutritional supplements.
The strength of iridology as a detection technique inheres from the total body view it affords, and in its ability to detect a tissue condition in the early stage before it advances over eight to fifteen years to the chronic stage when most allopathic diagnoses are performed.
Contrary to what might be expected, the eye is not a blank slate at birth, but mirrors the genetically transmitted weaknesses of both parents. These ocular biomarkers can be reliably read at about six years of age.
Let us for instance take the example of heart problems running in the family and being genetically transferred to the children. It would be helpful to determine if you in this example inherited the weakness running in your family, and if so, allows you to make lifestyle choices that will support good heart health or to include a proven heart muscle strengthener like hawthorn berries in your diet early on, thereby nutraceutically guarding against or perhaps even staving off heart problems in mature years.
What can you expect from an iridology reading?
Since the nerve activity originating in each organ and system is reported and depicted in a specific region of the iris, abnormal conditions in a particular organ can be determined by observing these biomarkers.
Normal functioning is depicted by undisturbed arrangement of the fibers, while abnormalities in an organ give rise to irregular arrangement.
While iridology will not disclose the clusters of symptoms recognized by the allopathic world as diseases, you will be accurately informed of tissue conditions--organ-by-organ, system-by-system. These can also be identified by iridology as being acute, chronic or degenerative and used in conjunction with other diagnostic techniques, these indications can identify primary or contributing dysfunctions.
Finding a mark or discoloration on the iris at a specific area, the iridologist will note the irregularity on your chart, and look for marks in allied organs. For example, a mark on the heart area would suggest glancing at the brain sector as well to see if the medulla shows irregularity, pointing to a possible electrical problem manifesting as arrhythmia, etc. In this way underlying causes of malfunction are often uncovered, as well as contributing causes in other body systems and organs.
In the United States, as well as in the United Kingdom and South Africa, iridology is normally offered by alternative / complementary practitioners who specialize in iridology. The consultation with an iridologist is not always covered by medical insurance, but since the cost of an iridology reading is relatively low, it can be an excellent investment in your own health – for the here-and-now as well as planning for the future.
